Never sneeze while holding a full (lidless) cup of coffee. Even if it's not scalding, it's still pretty messy.

Advice for the day: Don't fall down while ice skating if you only weigh 97 pounds. It hurts!

Interesting subject of the day: Darwinian Medicine.

I also have to write a 500 word essay on the subject (due next Tuesday) for my Physical (Biological) Anthropology class. Maybe I'll post it here when I'm finished :-)

End of the Spear. Spectacular movie!

Ken and I are going to watch four more episodes of LOST (season one) tonight. Another wild Saturday night :-) Just my speed though (Ken, TV, knitting, and a Sonic Diet Coke - LOL).

**********

Okay, so we watched 6 episodes. It's late, and I have to get up early for church. Buona Notte!

John 11. That was our study tonight. Awesome!! Jesus' 7th (and greatest) sign. Jesus destroyed (disabled) death. Death doesn't have the same power over Christians like it does over non-Christians. Also, when Lazarus is raised, he is still wearing his burial bands and the cloth covering his head - John 11:44. But when Jesus is raised (John 20:6-7) his burial cloths are left in the tomb. Why was the cloth that covered His head rolled up and in a separate place? What was the purpose of that? It was definitely a purposeful act - to leave that other cloth in a different place. But why?

I liked that Jesus gives thanks to God before prayer, and He gives credit to God (John 11:41-42). We should be imitators of Christ :-)

Personal questions for myself: How do I respond to Jesus' life? Am I obedient? Do I know my faith enough to share with others?

Well, my first day as a full-time student went very well. It was odd to stay on campus for more than one class in a row - LOL. My first class of the day (8:00 a.m.) is an English class - Literary Criticism & Analysis. This will be a lot fun and very challenging (it's been a long time since my last research paper). The professor (Ms. Cross) is a Transgender, and she used to be a green beret! This class will be very interesting. I am excited because a former co-worker from Clarke is in that class (we were on a team together about two years ago).

I like my Physical Anthropology class. I feel it will be very enlightening. I do believe in evolution because it's obvious that organic evolution exists. Things change - get over it! I believe theology (creationism, if you will) and evolution (science) are complementary and not contradictory (they are not alternate views). Theology (faith) tells us "why" and science tells us "how." I'm hoping that my bible study and classes in anthropology will bring all this into focus and give me a better understanding of both subjects. I'm really looking forward to learning both views and seeing how they work together.

Art and Architecture history (1350-1750) will be great. I feel blessed to have visited the Louvre as well as a lot of other museums. I can't wait to learn more :-)

When all is said and done, I enjoyed my day. Tomorrow I have Intermediate Algebra and Elementary Italian II. Out of all my classes, I'm predicting Italian will be the most challenging. I did well last semester, but I think it will just get harder! It is a foreign language after all :-)

With this new endeavor, I pray for courage, discipline, and an open mind :-)

Today's Blessing: I didn't fall down or make a fool of myself at school (LOL).

Here are a few "revealings." I will probably continue to add to this list as I continue my study.

The law reveals sin (Exodus 34, Romans 3:20, Romans 5:12-14, Romans 7:7)
The Jew's disbelief reveals the Gospel to the Gentiles
The Jew's disobedience reveals mercy for the Gentiles (Romans 11:30)
Mercy for the gentiles reveals mercy for the Jews (Romans 11:31)
Breaking of the bread reveals Jesus (Luke 24:30-31)
Israel's transgression reveals salvation for the Gentiles (Romans 11:11)
Christ's death reveals the New Covenant
Jesus reveals the Father (John 1:18)
The Gospel reveals righteousness of God (Romans 1:17)
Sin reveals judgment (Romans 5:16)

To be continued...

Woo Hoo! A wild time at the Jones' household on Saturday Night!!!

Well, I won't write much tonight. I'm a little tired and my eye is still swollen. Besides, the Spurs are getting ready to play. All I can say is they had better win . Go Spurs Go! After I write this, I'll go watch the Spurs and maybe knit a while (I told you it was a wild time).

We saw Glory Road today and it was pretty good. Very inspiring :-) I didn't go ice skating this morning since my eye was still a problem. I didn't want to take any chances (I'm clumsy enough as it is).

I'm currently reading Winter's Heart. This is the 9th book in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I took a short break after book 8 because I've been reading these books since July 2005. I read Redwall by Brian Jacques and State of Fear by Michael Crichton. I really liked Redwall. I liked it so much I went and bought the next two in the series. Wheel of Time is good too, but I'll be glad to get through book 10 because I'm afraid I may be getting burned out :-0 After book 10 I'll have a chance to rest before 11 goes to paperback (I hope it takes a while :-) I've been reading them for so long I feel like I know these people!

School starts Tuesday. I'll probably have some interesting things to write then. My life isn't really that exciting. So, don't expect too much from this journal - LOL. I'm guessing a lot of what I write will be about my favorite bible verses or what I'm learning in my bible study.

Today's Blessing: In basketball, the Texas Western Miners beat the Iowa Hawkeyes in 1965. Okay, that was from Glory Road and almost 41 years ago. I guess TODAY'S blessing would be: I gained a pound :-)

Numbers 20:11 ~ Then, raising his hand, Moses struck the rock twice with his staff, and water gushed out in abundance for the community and their livestock to drink.

John 19:34 ~ ...but one soldier thrust his lance into His side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.
************************************************************
Just as the water flowing from the rock saved the Hebrew people from thirst, the water and blood flowing from Jesus saves us. ************************************************************

Genesis 2:21-22 ~ So the Lord God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The Lord God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man.

John 19:34 ~ ...but one soldier thrust his lance into His side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.
************************************************************
Just as woman (the bride of Adam) was born from the side of man, the Church (the bride of Christ) was born from the side of Jesus - the blood (Eucharist) and the water (Baptism).

Today's Blessing: I survived Friday the 13th. I'm not superstitious :-) I just think it's funny how our culture has made us afraid of such a harmless day. My real blessing for the day is my eye feels better. I pray it's not swollen all over again tomorrow morning!

We often forget to rejoice and give thanks to God. One of my goals this year is to wake each morning with praise on my lips for God and His mercy and have my final thought of the night be one of thanksgiving! It is my hope that these "bookends" will encompass my new self as I strive continuously for holiness. I want to put on a "new self" each day!

**********************************************
Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:4-7
**********************************************
Try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. ~ Ephesians 5:10
**********************************************
...and have put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of its creator. ~ Colossians 3:10
